“I worked in the public sector for years, but one day I realized this was my moment. If I ever wanted my own business, it had to be now.”
Rignald “Iki” Lourens opened iDetailing Supplies after discovering that high-quality car care products weren’t available in Curaçao. As a car fanatic who found joy in washing and detailing, he spent a year researching suppliers, studying the local market, and working hard to convince international brands to trust a small island. “Once one major supplier opened the door, I used their name to open other doors. It was a real journey.”
Today, iDetailing fills a real gap in the market. “We have plenty of products on the island, but it’s difficult to find good quality.” Iki explains each product one by one to ensure customers understand how to use them. “After that first visit, you’re so well informed that next time you can just grab and go.”
Word-of-mouth has become his strongest driver, especially after customers see how well the products work. “There’s a universal cleaner people use for cars, boats, and even laundry. A crème-colored boat becomes white again with this product.” One customer struggling with soot stains on his boat tried everything on the island. Iki sold him one bottle to test. “That same day, he called asking how many I had left. He bought them all!”
After a fellow business owner recommended Sentoo, Iki decided to try it himself. Today, customers can pay with Sentoo in-store, and he uses it for his own payments, including shipping and business taxes. “I’m very happy with Sentoo. I even show customers how easy it is.”
Running a business has its challenges, but the most rewarding part for Iki is the community he has built. “My regulars feel like family. I want people to feel at home here. There’s even a fridge in the store so customers can help themselves.” And with new brands and products coming soon, his vision is clear:
"When you visit, I want you to feel like you are in a Coney Island for cars."
