At Stichting Dog, around 120 dogs find safety. Many arrive frightened, injured, or exhausted from surviving on the streets. Others are elderly or have special needs. Some will stay for life, while others, once healed, are placed with loving families on the island or abroad. The foundation relies on donations to make this care possible, and every contribution helps keep these dogs safe.
The story began with founder Djoeke Giliam, whose love for animals deepened when she rescued a stray dog named Ascha. Helping Ascha led to helping many more. As the need grew, Stichting DOG was created in 2014 as a safe haven for dogs with nowhere else to go.
Daily life at the sanctuary depends on volunteers and community support. Puppies need constant attention, medical cases require ongoing treatment, and many dogs must learn to trust again. Rising costs and limited space are daily challenges, yet the team remains remarkably committed.
As the sanctuary grew, so did the need for a smoother way to receive donations. This is where Sentoo came in and helped make contributing easier for supporters, whether they live on the island or abroad.
